The Start of a Scholarship Program to Benefit Inspiring People with Autism

On August 21st 2015, a new book I contributed to called College for Students with Disabilities: We Do Belong was released. The book focuses on helping give educators a look at disabilities through the perspective of those with disabilities. To share the news I appeared on Autism Live to discuss the new book with host Shannon Penrod.

While on the show I discussed how Dr. Stephen Shore, an international speaker on disabilities approached me over 2 years ago about getting involved with the book and having my voice heard. During the interview I discussed my personal experiences with autism in college.

“When I was growing up, I didn’t think of college as a possibility. When I first started applying I really didn’t know what to think. Luckily I got accepted into all 15 colleges I applied too and my dream of going to college had become a reality.”

Following up on that conversation Shannon asked me about my scholarship program which focuses on giving scholarships for students with autism to attend college. You can read more about how your child can apply for the scholarship here.

Thanks to Autism Live for the great work they’ve done to highlight members of our autism community and Shannon especially for having me on! You can learn more about Autism Live here.
