This guest post is by Katrina Hayes, Founder of Speak Up! Special Education Advocacy. Katrina is applying for our Supporting Small Businesses That Hire People With Disabilities Grant Opportunity ran by my nonprofit KFM Making A Difference. You can learn more about the grant opportunity here. I hope you can support my nonprofit like I’m trying to support our community. I also produce educational videos to celebrate neurodiversity by spotlighting individuals impacted by a diagnosis. Learn more on how you can help our cause with a small donation (just asking for $3 today, equal to your daily cup of coffee) here.
The purpose of Speak Up! Special Education Advocacy is to use my many years of professional and personal life experiences to advocate, lead and support children with autism and their parents in feeling confident while navigating the special education process. We also offer workshops, speaking engagements and panel opportunities and autism parenting coaching.
So whether you want to amplify your child’s voice, need clarity about educational resources or you’re ready to stand up as your child’s advocate I can show you how to do it all!
We are currently working on launching a book. The main star is my son, Tristen Olive, who has autism.
