Nonverbal Girl With Autism Struck In Face By School Bus Aide

Details are still coming together on this shocking story….

In Illinois, Kayla Rushing, a 6-year-old girl who is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum was struck in the face twice by a school bus aide. The incident was brought up to Kayla’s parents after the superintendent of New Lenox School where Kayla attends was able to find footage of the incident.

“To see it happen and to actually see that video you know, it, it’s flabbergasting,” the child’s father, Nick Rushing told NBC Chicago.

You can read more about the story at NBC4i.com here.

When we talk about making sure we have the best educators in our schools for our children it also includes the need for the best village for them as well. When we talk in schools about our experiences growing up on the autism spectrum this is why we constantly say that ‘it takes a village.’ This means we need to make sure we have the best educators, janitors, bus drivers, bus aides, and everyone who we trust with our loved ones. My best wishes go out to the Rushing family at this time as this investigation is still ongoing. What are everyone’s thoughts on the video above? Tell us in the comments.
