Talented Singer Advances To Next Round On ‘The Voice’; Says Music Helped Him Growing Up With Autism

Music again shows to be a positive outlet for members of our autism community! Will Bremen who is a 25-year-old singer from Santa Barbara California just auditioned for Season 17 of the voice! During his intro video he discussed being diagnosed with autism. In the video he says,

“I got told by some people that I wouldn’t amount to much. Music became my biggest solace, and helped me express my feelings in a way that would otherwise not come naturally to me.”

After his performance which you can watch above, he got John Legend and Gwen Stefani to turn their chairs for him. He ended up picking John and even got to do a duet with him on stage.

Growing up with autism, music therapy became a big part of my development. Loud noises would bother me but there was always something soothing about music. This helped me with a great deal of my sensory challenges. Today I’ve overcame many of my obstacles and am a professional speaker and author.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen our autism community impacted by music. At our Facebook Page A Special Community we often feature singers who have been impacted by a diagnosis. Check out my friend Calum sing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston below.

Congrats Will!
