My friend and fellow autism self-advocate Dr. Temple Grandin I’m happy to announce just received the 2019 Dole Leadership Prize at the University of Kansas on Dec 11 of 2019! I first met her when keynoting with her at Memphis University several years ago where I presented on growing up from nonverbal autism to today being a professional speaker. She is truly one of a kind! Years later Future Horizons would present me with one of the greatest honors of my life in the Temple Grandin Award.
Previous winners of the Dole Leadership Prize include Nelson Mandela. She received the award for her work advocating for those in the autism community and her work in animal welfare. You may know of Temple from the 2011 HBO biopic based on her life starring Claire Danes which won multiple Emmys. You can watch Dr. Grandin receive her award below…
Well deserved Dr. Grandin and thank you for all you continue to do!
