Jersey City, NJ — Award-winning autistic speaker, author, and advocate Dr. Kerry Magro has announced the launch of a new line of Autism Acceptance Shoes ahead of Autism Acceptance Month in April, designed to promote understanding, inclusion, and pride within the autism community.
The sneakers feature the word “AUTISM” alongside the rainbow infinity symbol, a widely recognized symbol representing neurodiversity and the diversity of autistic individuals.
Dr. Magro, who was diagnosed with autism at age four and was nonspeaking until age two and a half, says the shoes were created to spark conversations and encourage greater acceptance of people on the autism spectrum.
“Autism acceptance is about more than awareness. It’s about creating a world where autistic individuals are respected, included, and understood,” said Magro. “I wanted to create something people could wear proudly that helps start those conversations in everyday life.”
Today, Magro travels internationally as a professional speaker and autism consultant, sharing his personal journey and working with schools, businesses, healthcare organizations, and community groups to promote greater understanding of autism. He has spoken at more than 1,400 events worldwide and has been featured in major media outlets including NBC’s Today Show, CBS News, and The New York Times.
Magro also serves as an autism consultant for Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning series Love on the Spectrum U.S. and is the author of multiple books focused on autism advocacy and personal growth.
The Autism Acceptance Shoes are being released ahead of April to encourage individuals, families, educators, and allies to show their support for autistic people during Autism Acceptance Month and beyond.
“Autism is such a large spectrum,” Magro added. “While some autistic individuals like myself are able to live independently and build careers, others may need significant support throughout their lives. With the messaging on one shoe reading ‘AUTISM’ and the other ‘ADVOCATE,’ we hope to bring meaningful awareness to autism while also allowing advocates to wear their support proudly.”
