A true win for inclusion.
While writing my dissertation this morning I had Good Morning America on in the background and heard about this new initiative.
I found out they will be available in the Fall of 2019. One of the dolls will be in a wheelchair and another of the dolls will have a prosthetic limb. Apparently there will also be new dolls that come in different body types as well. Here’s the link to Barbie.com to learn more.
In our disability community through my work as a professional speaker often highlighting topics about autism and diversity, a constant theme that is brought up in conversations is inclusion. We truly live in the most diverse time in our history.
Representation is important and I can’t thank Mattel enough for doing this. Hopefully more toy manufacturers will follow by this example.
