Will you be watching? This will be the first movie Hallmark produces that will feature an autistic character.
“The Christmas Bond” will be released this December on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and stars well-known autism advocate and celebrity Holly Robinson Peete along with Nik Sanchez, an actor with autism who will be playing the character with autism in the film.
Holly Robinson Peete whose son is on the autism spectrum has become a true champion in the autism community. Her nonprofit HollyRod Foundation has been well known for supporting the autism community.
I applaud Hallmark for spotlighting autism and also giving a well-deserved opportunity to Nik to play this role (Nik will also be featured in another film in 2022).
If Hallmark sees this post, I would like to offer my services for this film. As an autism entertainment consultant, I’ve come to realize the true importance of representation. Growing up with autism, the only entertainment projects I knew about that featured an autistic character included Rain Man. I’m glad more of the spectrum is now getting to be spotlighted. You can learn more about my work as an autism consultant here on projects such as Joyful Noise, Jane Wants A Boyfriend and Mrs. Fletcher and how I can help you with your project by contacting me here. My work in these projects has included script review, audition outreach, casting, shadowing during production, helping answer questions to the director, cast and crew about Autism Spectrum Disorders and outreach to our autism community during post-production. The holidays also have a special place in my heart as I’ve played an autism & sensory-friendly Santa for autistic and special needs children to meet Santa for the past 7 years.
