Justin Timberlake Sings ‘Happy Birthday’ to Young Boy with Autism!

Julian Delan, a 8-year-old boy with autism got his birthday wish when his mom Marika took him and the family to see Justin Timberlake perform live during his concert tour (The 20/20 Experience) in San Jose, California last year. Julian is one of Justin’s biggest fans and can replay “SexyBack” over and over without ever getting sick of it. Than, during Julian’s big day he got to live a moment that he will remember for the rest of his life.

Marika wrote in the Manifest Station Blog…

“And at the perfect quiet moment, the group in front of us started yelling to get Justin’s attention, because despite his loud volume, Julian’s voice was not carrying. Only repeating. And then before we knew what was happening, the group in front of us that had turned out to be so incredibly kind all night to our birthday boy, and these gorgeous girls who I was convinced would be totally annoyed by Julian, had captured Justin’s attention. And then it happened. Justin Timberlake was singing Happy Birthday.”

My Beautiful Boy, where did 8 years go? 1 and then 2 and all of a sudden 3+ 5 all covered over with dirt and hot wheels. How did 8 years disappear among the legos, all the colors and shapes mixed together and unsorted, waiting to be assembled…. waiting to be remembered. Waiting for when your mama goes through the pictures. For when she puts them in the albums and says, “Oh, look at this one! Do you remember when you turned 4? Oh what about this one? Do you remember when we celebrated 6 years?” Do you remember? Do you remember all these things that feel like a balloon that I have lost grasp of the string? Do you remember when you stole my heart the minute they lay your warm wet body on my still heaving, labor heavy chest, a mere 8 years ago? I do. And i haven’t been the same since, thank G-d. Thank you, my Beautiful Boy for showing me the world through your eyes. It is decidedly more breathtaking than anything I knew before there was you. On this day we celebrate your life and the beautiful light that you shine into the world. On this day we celebrate you.
