New TV Show To Feature Characters With Disabilities

As an autism consultant and advocate for inclusivity, I am thrilled to share with you the exciting news about a groundbreaking animated series that is set to captivate the hearts of preschoolers everywhere. Titled “Hop,” this innovative show is being developed by the creator of the beloved children’s series “Arthur,” Marc Brown. With a strong focus on embracing differences, “Hop” aims to teach young children the value of uniqueness and the beauty of diversity.

By introducing characters with disabilities and neurodivergent traits, the show creates an environment that fosters empathy, understanding, and acceptance from an early age. That’s a big reason why I wrote a children’s book about twins on the autism spectrum that you can learn more about here. As an autism entertainment consultant, I wholeheartedly applaud the creators and stakeholders involved in bringing “Hop” to life, as they take a bold step forward in redefining the narrative and setting a precedent for future inclusive storytelling.

Growing up with autism, the only entertainment projects I knew about that featured an autistic character included Rain Man. I’m glad more of the spectrum of disability is now getting to be spotlighted. If Hop were ever looking for additional help, I’d be happy to discuss a collaboration. You can learn more about my work as an autism consultant here on projects such as Joyful Noise, Jane Wants A Boyfriend and Mrs. Fletcher and how I can help you with your next project by contacting me here. You can check out my new e-book Autistic Characters That Are Featured On Netflix, Disney+ & More! here.

While a release date has not been announced as it’s still in pre-production, when it does air, ‘Hop’ will stream on Max (formerly known as HBO Max).

I started the nonprofit KFM Making a Difference in 2011 to help students with autism receive scholarship aid to pursue post-secondary education. Help support me so I can continue to help students with autism go to college by making a tax-deductible donation to our nonprofit here.

Autistics on Autism: Stories You Need to Hear About What Helped Them While Growing Up and Pursuing Their Dreams was released on March 29, 2022 on Amazon here for our community to enjoy featuring the stories of 100 autistic adults. 100% of the proceeds from this book will go back to our nonprofit to support initiatives like our autism scholarship program. In addition, this autistic adult’s essay you just read will be featured in a future volume of this book as we plan on making this into a series of books on autistic adults.
