Leave It to Geege looks at the Taylor family. One of the family members is Pootie who is 19, on the autism spectrum and is nonverbal.
The reality TV show will premiere on Lifetime on 1/12/22 at 10PM for our community to enjoy.
We need to highlight more of the spectrum of autism as nonverbal and nonspeaking autism often goes underrepresented. As an autism entertainment consultant who understands the true importance of representation. Growing up with autism, the only entertainment projects I knew about that featured an autistic character included Rain Man. I’m glad more of the spectrum is now getting to be spotlighted. In the TV series Mrs. Fletcher, one of the characters was nonverbal. I was very proud to be involved with a project that could continue the conversation around nonverbal autism. I also have a personal connection to this community as someone who was nonspeaking till 2.5 and didn’t speak in complete sentences till I was 7. Today I’m a professional speaker.
