New TV Series Premiering Friday Features Three Autistic Leads

Will you be tuning in?

As We See It” comes from the creator of Parenthood (Jason Katims) that aired on NBC that included a character who’s on the autism spectrum.

All 8 episodes of the half-hour series will premiere on Friday, January 21, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. The series looks at Jack, Harrison, and Violet, three roommates on the autism spectrum who strive to get and keep jobs, make friends, fall in love, and navigate a world that eludes them. It’s based on the Israeli series called “On the Spectrum” which was featured, among other places, on HBO Max not too long ago.

In addition to the 3 autistic adults playing autistic characters, there are also several other autistic actors playing autistic characters in the series.

As someone who enjoyed Parenthood, and following the journey of the young autistic character in Max Braverman, I’m looking forward to giving this series a watch.

If the team behind As We See It sees this post, I would like to offer my services to them moving forward if it gets renewed for future seasons. As an autism entertainment consultant, I’ve come to realize the true importance of representation. Growing up with autism, the only entertainment projects I knew about that featured an autistic character included Rain Man. I’m glad more of the spectrum is now getting to be spotlighted. You can learn more about my work as an autism consultant here on projects such as Joyful Noise, Jane Wants A Boyfriend, and Mrs. Fletcher and how I can help you with your project by contacting me here. My work in these projects has included script review, audition outreach, casting, shadowing during production, helping answer questions to the director, cast, and crew about Autism Spectrum Disorders, and outreach to our autism community during post-production.
