Man with Autism Who Was Once Nonverbal Receives Audition for ‘The Voice’

As reported by WISC News Darion Powers, who was diagnosed with autism at an early age, received an audition to be on the hit NBC Show ‘The Voice!’ Darion’s mom realized at an early age that Darion had a passion for music.

She told WISC News, “I was told ‘He’s not going to walk; he’s not going to talk; he’s only going to have a 25 to 50 word vocabulary.’ I wasn’t having that.”

On January 14, 2014, Darion finally got his audition in Chicago and even though he didn’t get picked still hopes to pursue a career in music.
