This Program is Helping Kids With Autism Who Go to the Emergency Room

Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida is helping make a difference in the lives of children on the autism spectrum. In a new pilot program they are looking to help reduce the stress that faces many children who go to the emergency room.

Reported by Bay News 9, officials from the Children’s Hospital said about the program, “Emergency rooms tend to be over stimulating and can exacerbate symptoms for children with autism or other behavioral conditions. The program offers family a separate, quiet waiting room or playroom or headphones or sensory brushes to help distract children from overwhelming sights and sounds.
