What fantastic news! We need more shows to put a spotlight on autism. Every place I go to speak as a professional speaker I tend to receive a question or two about my thoughts on shows such as The Good Doctor and/or Atypical!
What have your thoughts been on The Good Doctor so far? As I wrote in a previous article I’m thankful for what The Good Doctor has done and I hope that one day I’ll have the opportunity to be involved with this show, as an autism consultant or in another capacity. I grew up with a key interest in theater and the entertainment industry and have been able to consult on several autism-related projects including Joyful Noise and Jane Wants A Boyfriend. Here’s a review I did of the first-ever episode of The Good Doctor that you can watch below.
Growing up on the autism spectrum theater therapy helped me tremendously with my early development and now I have a goal of bringing a realistic portrayal of disability to our entertainment industry. This would be something truly special to me to be a part of this project whether it be on Season 3 or in the future.
